ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A phenolic foam that is non-corrosive to metallic substrates over which it is applied is disclosed herein. The foam is prepared by hardening an intimate mixture of a conven- tional foamable phenolic resole resin containing a blowing agent, a hardener and a surface active agent, and sodium tetraborate.
