The invention discloses a non-selective oxidation catalyst resistant to high temperatures, and a method of preparing said catalyst. The catalyst comprises a carrier based essentially on a silicon-stabilized aliumina, and an active phase precursor consisting of a noble metal M in which the active phase is a cation amine complex of the type [M(NH3)4]<++> or a compound selected from tetrachloropalladic acid. It may be used specifically in methods for the catalytic combustion of hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, hydrogen or mixures thereof.
