A non-skid strip which includes a rigid main body adapted to be secured to a tread portion of a stair. The main body may be metal and may be made from galvanized steel. The main body may have an upper surface, a lower surface, a front edge, a rear edge, a left edge and a right edge. A non-skid layer, which is preferably a polyurethane coating, may be applied to the upper surface of the rigid main body. The non-skid layer may further be applied to the front, rear, left and right edges.
