ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Smearing of fat by fat-containing trayed food products on the in- terior surface of a thermoplastic overwrap is substantially reduced or eliminated by applying loading forces during a sealing step to the longitudinal edges of the tray containing food product. A tray with a convex bottom is preferred to enhance the quality of the seal. A convex heating plate can be used in conjunction with conventional trays.
