Currently all golf club drivers and woods incorporate some degree of bulge and roll on the face of the club to counteract the known gear effect caused by off center square contact, unfortunately current designs provide for a very small ideal, (ie: flat), contacting surface in the middle of the club face. The proposed invention provides for an enlarged, flatter, ball contacting surface in the middle of the club face with a bulge and/or roll angle applied only towards the extremity of the toe and the heel, while at the same time eliminating any roll in the vertical plane, increasing the ideal contact area while providing for improved compensation for the known gear effect when the ball is hit
