The present invention concerns a novel composition comprising a nucleic acid; and a chitosan containing branching groups covalently linked to the amino groups wherein said branches are selected from the following groups; alkyl with 2 or more carbon atoms, monosaccharides, oligosaccharides or polysaccharides. The composition is particularly useful as a non-viral gene delivery system. The composition facilitates the introduction of the nucleic acid into the cells to which it is administrated, as well as the expression of the function of the nucleic acid.

L'invention concerne une nouvelle composition comprenant un acide nucléique, et un chitosane contenant des groupes de ramification liés de manière covalente à des groupes amino, les branches étant choisies dans les groupes suivants; alkyle avec au moins 2 atomes de carbone, monosaccharides, oligosaccharides ou polysaccharides. Ladite composition est particulièrement utile comme système d'administration génique non virale. Elle facilite l'introduction de l'acide nucléique dans les cellules auxquelles elle est administrée, ainsi que l'expression de la fonction de l'acide nucléique.
