The invention provides a water-resistant emulsion pressure sensitive adhesive comprising a reaction product formed from a polymerizable mixture of (a) 50-90% by weight n-butyl acrylate, and (b) 10-50% by weight 2-hydroxy ethyl acrylate, 2-hydroxy ethyl methacrylate, or hydroxy propyl acrylate monomer; wherein the water-resistant emulsion pressure sensitive adhesive exhibits optical measurements of (i) less than 2% increase in haze, (ii) less than 20 increase in opacity, and (iii) greater than approximately 95% transmittance in the visible spectrum ranging from 370 to 720 nm after a wet lamination process in which a clear, primed polyester film coated with the water-resistant emulsion pressure sensitive adhesive is wet laminated to a glass slide, wherein the optical measurements are measured relative to control optical measurements of a dry laminate formed by a dry lamination process in which a clear, primed polyester film coated with the water-resistant emulsion pressure sensitive adhesive is dry laminated to a glass slide. The water-resistant, low haze acrylic-based (latex) pressure sensitive adhesives of the invention may be used in decorative, light management or optical articles.
