Liquid nonaqueous detergent compositions for machine dishwashing which have high physical stability (settling behavior) and chemical stability (bleach decomposition) and which achieve good cleaning performance even without the use of large amounts of surfactant, comprise, in addition to further optional detergent ingredients, 20 to 50% by weight of one or more water-soluble builders, 1 to 25% by weight of glycerol, 5 to 40% by weight of a polyethylene glycol which is liquid at room temperature, and optionally up to 20% by weight of 1,2-propanediol and ~ 2% by weight of free water.
