Abstract of the Disclosure A thermoplastic may be durably coated with a non-crosslinked organosilicon polymer by exposing the thermoplastic to a temperature of from at least the glass-transition temperature to less than the melting temperature of the thermoplastic while the thermoplastic is in contact with the organosilicon polymer. The resulting coating is durable at temperatures below the glass-transition temperature of the thermoplastic. The non-crosslinked coating modifies the surface properties of certain thermoplastics without adversely affecting their fire retardance rating.
