2049350 9012686 PCTABS00002 A structure (20) which is particularly useful as a panel for the interior of airplanes comprises at least one polymeric matrix (24) having from 20 to 50 percent by weight nonlinear carbonaceous fibers and from 50 to 80 percent by weight organosilicone polymer incorporated therein. The structure is formed by heat and pressure application. On one surface of the structure, a polymeric film (22), preferably a polyester film, can be attached. The film advantageously can be provided with a decorative embossment (21). On the opposite surface of the matrix (24) there can be provided a reinforcement scrim (25). A layer of a wool-like fluff (26) of nonlinear and/or linear carbonaceous fibers can be provided on the opposite surface of the scrim (25) when thermal and sound insulation is desired. The opposite side of the fluff (26) is advantageously covered with a film or sheet (28) of a metal or polymeric material, or the like.
