2106217 9217523 PCTABS00016 Nonionic soil release agents having both oxyethylene and oxyiso-propyleneoxy units are useful in laundry compositions, especially in liquid through-the-rinse fabric softeners, as well as in detergent compositions. Thus, the reaction product of CH3(OCH2CH2)16OH, dimethyl terephthalate, polyethylene glycol 1500, 1,2-propylene glycol and ethylene glycol, preferably as a polymer/oligomer in which the ratio of incorporated ethylene glycol:propylene glycol is about 1.5:1, is added to a liquid fabric softener with DTDMAC. Fabrics rinsed in a bath containing this composition are both softened and afforded a soil release finish.
