ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and apparatus for use with a television receiver that processes a television signal in digital form and that has the functional units of the receiver controlled by digital data stored in internal registers, in which a dedicated non-volatile memory is provided for storing initial data along with a control circuit for setting such initial data into the appropriate register so that when the receiver is adjusted for the first time following manufacture spurious data will not cause circuit elements of the receiver to be damaged.
