A brush (30) made from a nonwoven, thermally bonded bicomponent fiber web is described. The nonwoven brush (30) of the invention includes a plurality of compressed annular sections (10) assembled about a central carrier (100) with each section made of a mat of biocomponent fibers which have been crimped and melt-bonded. In a preferred embodiment, the brush (30) will have a compacted density of between about 50 and about 250 kilograms per cubic meter. The fibers making up the compressed annular sections (10) are preferably a combination of polyolefins (e.g. polypropylene and polyethylene) but may also include polyesters and other materials.
