A nonwoven composite for mechanical closure systems is disclosed as well as a process for its manufacture and potential uses of the composite. The nonwoven composite is a multilayer nonwoven composite which includes at least one layer of polyolefin endless filament nonwoven having a tear strength in machine direction which is at least as large as transverse thereto and consists essentially of fibers of a titre of < 4.5 dtex, as well as a second nonwoven layer connected with the first layer and including a nap of crimped staple fibers that are less fine than the fibers of the nonwoven of the first layer, whereby the at least two nonwoven layers are connected with one another at the common bond resurface by bonding in the shape of a preselected pattern. 1t is possible with this composite to manufacture diapers with a mechanical closure system (hook and loop closure) which is suitable for use even for adult incontinent patients.
