ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Nonwoven mats of superfine fibers, wherein each fiber com- prises a blend of thermoplastic resins, are continuously made in a melt-blowing process. In the preferred embodiment, the resins within each fiber are generally dissimilar in properties, and the fibers have diameters from 0.5 to 30 microns which are self bonded to a greater or lesser extent. Physical properties of the mats can be varied as desired over a wide range by selecting the proper comb- ination and quantities of each resin in the blend. At least one of said resins is a fiber-former.
