ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A noosing bear trap is provided herein. It includes a main body defining an interior space, the main body being provided with at least one access opening which allows insertion of a bear's paw into the interior space for taking a bait placed therein at a position spaced from the access opening. A capturing wire is provided which is fixable at one end and is formed, at the other end, with a diametrically-variable noosing loop located at, or adjacent to, the access opening. The capturing wire is normally subjected to a pre-tension. Trigger means are provided which cause the noosing loop to be tensioned for diametrical reduction in response to the movement of the bear's paw for taking the bait. The trigger means includes a tension blocking device which normally blocks the pre-tension of the capturing wire, but which allows the pre-tension to be applied to the noosing loop in response to the movement of the bear's paw for taking the bait.
