Cellulases selected from the group consisting of Family 7 cellulases and variants of these cellulases comprising a core and optionally a C-terminal link consisting of 10 amino acids at the most, especially cellulases having tryptophan, tyrosine or phenylalanine in position 55 relative to the sequence alignment of Figure 5 and/or cellulases having a substrate binding cleft of a depth of at least 12 .ANG., exhibit enhanced enzyme activity in the alkaline pH range while exerting a moderate cellulolytic action on the cellulosic substrate and are, for example, useful in detergent compositions, especially for soil removal or colour clarification or preventing backtaining; in fabric softeners; for bio-polishing of textiles; for drainage improvement of paper pulp; for plant degradation. Cellulases from Humicola insolens, Fusarium oxysporum, Trichoderma reesei and Myceliophthora thermophile are referred to.

Cellulases choisies parmi le groupe constitué par les cellulases de la famille 7 et les variantes de ces cellulases, comprenant un noyau et, facultativement, une liaison C-terminale constituée au plus de dix acides aminés, spécialement, des cellulases comprenant du tryptophane, de la tyrosine ou de la phénylalalanine en position 55 par rapport à l'alignement de séquences de la figure (5) et/ou cellulases comportant une fissure de liaison de substrat d'une profondeur d'au moins 12 ANGSTROM , qui présentent une activité enzymatique renforcée dans la gamme alcaline de pH tout en exerçant une action cellulolytique modérée sur le substrat cellulosique et qui se révèlent utiles, par exemple, dans des compositions détersives, notamment pour le détachage, l'éclairsissement des couleurs ou la prévention de la persistance des taches; dans les adoucissants textiles; pour le nettoyage biologique des textiles; pour l'amélioration du lavage de la pâte à papier; pour le désencrage des vieux papiers et pour la dégradation des végétaux. Les cellulases visées appartiennent aux familles Humicola insolens, Fusarium oxysporum, Trichoderma reesei et Myceliophthora thermopile.
