Compounds of formula (I) which act as amylin agonists with respect to certain desired amylin activities and as calcitonin agonists with respect to certain desired calcitonin activities are provided. Such compounds are useful in treating disturbances in fuel metabolism in mammals, including, but not limited to diabetes mellitus, including Type I diabetes and Type II diabetes. The present invention also relates to methods of treating Type I diabetes, treating Type II diabetes and to methods of beneficially regulating gastrointestinal motility comprising administration of a therapeutically effective amount of one of the compounds. Also provided are pharmaceutical compositions comprising a compound of formula (I) and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

L'invention concerne des composés correspondant à la formule (I) et agissant en tant qu'agonistes de l'amyline, par rapport à certaines activités recherchées de l'amyline, et en tant qu'agonistes de la calcitonine, par rapport à certaines activités recherchées de la calcitonine. De tels composés sont utiles dans le traitement des troubles du métabolisme des glucides, chez des mammifères, et notamment, sans y être limités, dans le traitement du diabète sucré, y compris les diabètes de type I et II. L'invention concerne également des méthodes de traitement des diabètes de type I et II, ainsi que des procédés de régulation bénéfique de la motilité gastro-intestinale, consistant à administrer l'un desdits composés, efficace sur le plan thérapeutique. L'invention concerne encore une composition pharmaceutique comprenant un composé de la formule (I) ainsi qu'un excipient acceptable sur le plan pharmacologique.
