Disclosed is an azo compound represented by the formula (1) below or a salt thereof. (1) (In the formula, D represents a residue of a diazo component of an aromatic ring or a heterocyclic ring; R1 represents a hydrogen atom, a C1- C4 alkyl group or a trifluoromethyl group; R2 represents a hydrogen atom, a cyano group or carbamoyl group; R3, R4, R5 and R6 may be the same as or different from one another and respectively represent a hydrogen atom or a C1- C4 alkyl group substituted by a sulfonic acid group or a carboxyl group.) Also disclosed is an ink composition characterized by containing such an azo compound or a salt thereof. The ink composition is excellent in storage stability and has an orange color by itself. This ink composition is suitable for inkjet recording, since it takes on a brilliant color hue when used in inkjet recording and the printed matter has good fastness such as light resistance and ozone resistance.
L~invention concerne un composé azoïque de formule (1) ci-dessous, ou l~un de ses sels. (1) (Dans cette formule, D représente un résidu de composant diazoïque d~un cycle aromatique ou hétérocyclique ; R1 représente un atome d~hydrogène, un groupe alkyle en C1 à C4 ou un groupe trifluorométhyle ; R2 représente un atome d~hydrogène, un groupe cyano ou un groupe carbamoyle ; R3, R4, R5 et R6 peuvent être identiques ou différents les uns des autres et représentent respectivement un atome d~hydrogène ou un groupe alkyle en C1 à C4 substitué par un groupe acide sulfonique ou un groupe carboxyle). L~invention concerne également une composition d~encre caractérisée en ce qu~elle contient un tel composé azoïque ou l~un de ses sels. Ladite composition offre une excellente stabilité au stockage et présente naturellement une couleur orange. La composition d~encre convient pour l~impression par jet d~encre, car elle prend une teinte colorée brillante lors de l~impression et le produit imprimé présente une bonne solidité de la couleur, par exemple vis-à-vis de l~action de la lumière et de l~ozone.
