The object is to provide a means for imparting resistance against a disease caused by a pathogenic mold, bacterium or virus to an agriculturally useful plant. Disclosed are: a bacterium which belongs to the genus Azospirillum or Herbaspirillum and can live symbiotically in a plant to impart resistance against a disease caused by a pathogenic mold, bacterium or virus to the host plant; a method for control of a plant disease using the bacterium; and a plant produced by the method.
