Carbapenem compounds represented by the general formula [1] or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof: [1] wherein R1 is C1-3 alkyl or hydroxylated C1-3 alkyl; R is hydrogen or a group which is hydrolyzed in vivo into a carboxyl group; and G is a group represented by one of the general formulae [G1], [G2] and [G3].
