Carbapenem derivatives having potent antimicrobial activities on MRSA, PRSP, influenza viruses and .beta.-lactamase-producing bacteria and a high stability to DHP-1. Namely, compounds represented by the following general formula (I) or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. In said formula, R1 represents H or methyl; R2 and R3 represent each H, halogeno, alkyl, etc.; and R4 represents substituted lower alkylthio, etc.
