A gene encoding a novel protein named AID (Activation-Induced cytidine Deaminase), which structurally relates to an RNA editing enzyme APOBEC-1 and has a cytidine deaminase activity similar to APOBEC-1, has been found out by using a mouse B cell clone CH12F3-2 undergoing class switch recombination from IgM to IgA at an extremely high ratio in association with the activation of the cells with a cytokine, constructing cDNA libraries respectively of stimulated B cells and unstimulated B cells, and then effecting subtraction cloning by using these libraries.

L'invention porte sur un gène codant une nouvelle protéine appelée AID (Activation-Induced cytidine Deaminase), dont la structure est analogue à une enzyme APOBEC-1 de mise en forme des ARN. Ce gène présentant une activité cytidine désaminase similaire à celle de APOBEC-1 a été découvert au moyen d'un clone CH12F3-2 de cellules B de souris en procédant à une recombinaison de commutation de classes de IgM à IgA avec un ratio très élevé, associée à une activation des cellules par une cytokine, créant ainsi des banques d'ADN complémentaire respectivement de cellules B stimulées et de cellules B non stimulées, puis en effectuant un clonage soustractif au moyen de ces banques.
