Epoxysuccinamide derivatives represented by general formula (I) or salts thereof; processes for the preparation of them; and drugs containing the same as the active ingredient. In said formula, R1 is hydrogen, alkyl or aminoalkyl and R2 is optionally substituted aminoalkyl, optionally substituted aryl, an optionally substituted heterocyclic group, optionally substituted aralkyl or alkyl substituted with an optionally substituted heterocyclic group, or alternatively R1 and R2 together with the nitrogen atom adjacent thereto may form an optionally substituted nitrogenous heterocycle; and R3 and R4 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl or aralkyl. These compounds exhibit a specific inhibitory activity against cathepsin L and cathepsin L family enzymes and thus are useful as, e.g., preventive drugs for diseases of bone metabolism such as osteoporosis, hypercalcemia and so on.

Cette invention se rapporte à des dérivés d'époxysuccinamide représentés par la formule générale (I) ou aux sels associés, à des procédés de préparation de ces dérivés et à des médicaments contenant ces dérivés en tant que principe actif. Dans la formule (I), R?1¿ est hydrogène, alkyle ou aminoalkyle et R?2¿ est aminoalkyle éventuellement substitué, aryle éventuellement substitué, un groupe hétérocyclique éventuellement substitué, aralkyle éventuellement substitué ou alkyle substitué par un groupe hétérocyclique éventuellement substitué, ou bien R?1¿ et R?2¿ peuvent former conjointement avec l'atome d'azote qui leur est adjacent un hétérocycle azoté éventuellement substitué; et R?3¿ et R?4¿ sont chacun indépendamment hydrogène, alkyle ou aralkyle. Ces composés présentent une activité inhibitrice spécifique dirigée contre la cathepsine L ou les enzymes de la famille de la cathepsine L; ils s'avèrent donc utiles en tant que médicaments préventifs, par exemple, des maladies du métabolisme osseux telles que l'ostéoporose, l'hypercalcémie etc.
