Novel compounds useful as chemotherapeutic, chemopreventive, and antiangiogenic agents are provided. The compounds are flavanoids, including flavanones, flavanols, and chalcones. The compounds have the structure of formula (I), wherein R1 through R3 and R5 through R11 are defined herein, and .alpha., .beta. and .gamma. are optional bonds, providing that when .alpha. is absent, .beta. is present, and when .beta. is absent, .alpha. is present. When .alpha. is present, preferred R4 moieties are selected from O, S, NH and CH2, and when .alpha. is absent, preferred R4 groups are selected from OH, SH, NH2 and CH3. When .gamma. is present, the preferred R5 substituent is O, while when .gamma. is absent, the preferred R5 substituent is OH. Pharmaceutical compositions are provided as well, as are methods of synthesis and use.
Nouveaux composés utiles en tant qu'agents chimiothérapeutiques, chimiopréventifs et antiangiogènes, qui sont des flavanoïdes, dont les flavanones, les flavanols et les chalcones. Lesdits composés possèdent une structure de formule (I) dans laquelle R?1¿ à R?3¿ et R?5 ¿à R?11¿ sont tels que définis dans le descriptif, et .alpha., .beta. et .gamma. sont des liaisons optionnelles, à condition que lorsque .alpha. est absent, .beta. soit présent, et que lorsque .beta. est absent, .alpha. soit présent. Lorsque .alpha. est présent, des fractions R?4¿ préférées sont sélectionnées parmi O, S, NH et CH¿2?, et lorsque .alpha. est absent, les groupes R?4¿ préférés sont sélectionnés parmi OH, SH, NH¿2? et CH¿3?. Lorsque .gamma. est présent, le substituant de R?5¿ préféré est O, tandis que lorsque .gamma. est absent, le substituant de R?5¿ préféré est OH. Des compositions pharmaceutiques sont également décrites, ainsi que des méthodes de synthèse et d'utilisation desdits composés.
