A pharmaceutical and/or veterinary formulation comprising deslorelin and an excipient, the formulation being characterised in that, in vitro, it releases deslorelin into phosphate buffered saline, as hereinbefore described, at 37 ~C at a rate of about 2-80 µg/day for at least 200 days. The formulation may be used for prevention of reproductive function, particularly in dogs and cats, and for the treatment, particularly in humans, of prostate and breast cancer and other diseases and conditions where suppression of testosterone or estradiol levels is beneficial.

L'invention concerne une formulation pharmaceutique et/ou vétérinaire comprenant de la desloréline et un excipient, qui se caractérise en ce que, in vitro, elle libère de la desloréline dans une solution saline tamponnée de phosphate, à 37 ·C, à raison d'environ 2-80 µg/jour durant au moins 200 jours. Cette formulation peut s'utiliser pour prévenir la fonction reproductrice, particulièrement chez les chiens et les chats, et pour traiter, notamment chez l'homme, le cancer de la prostate et le cancer du sein, ainsi que d'autres maladies et d'autres pathologies dans lesquelles la suppression des taux de testostérone ou d'estradiol est bénéfique.
