L'invention concerne également une méthode et une trousse pour cribler des composés pouvant promouvoir ou inhiber l'activité du polypeptide, les composés obtenus par ce criblage, et des médicaments, etc., contenant ces composés. Le polypeptide ci-décrit ou ses fragments peptidiques s'utilisent, par exemple, comme remèdes contre les maladies nerveuses ou comme promoteurs de la sécrétion de la somatostatine. L'anticorps ci-décrit s'utilise, par exemple, pour quantifier le polypeptide dans un échantillon liquide. Le polypeptide de l'invention est en outre utile comme réactif intervenant dans le criblage des composés pouvant promouvoir ou inhiber l'activité du polypeptide.
