A nucleic acid molecule, designated Sel-1L (Sel-1 like; also previously known as Hip-1), which is widely expressed in adult mouse and human tissues with particularly high levels in the pancreas and in the floor plate of the neural tube. Sel-1L has also been localized within intracellular vesicles. The gene maps to 14q24.3-31 in close proximity to the insulin diabetes locus (IDDML). The nucleic acid molecules encodes a protein designated "SEL-1L Protein".

L'invention concerne une molécule d'acide nucléique, appelée Sel-IL (de type Sel-1, connue aussi sous le nom de Hip-1), qui est largement exprimée dans les souris adultes et les tissus humains avec des taux particulièrement élevés dans le pancréas et dans la partie plancher du tube neural. La Sel-IL peut aussi être localisée dans les vésicules intracellulaires. Le gène couvre 14q24.3-31 à proximité du locus du diabète insulino-dépendant (IDDML). La molécule d'acide nucléique code une protéine appelée "protéine SEL-IL".
