New hydrate forms of alendronate sodium, having water content of between about one and about twelve percent, and processes for their manufacture, are disclosed. New crystalline forms of alendronate sodium B, D, E, F, G and H, and processes for manufacturing them, are also disclosed. These new forms of alendronate sodium are suitable for incorporation into pharmaceutical compositions for combating bone resorption in bone diseases.

L'invention concerne de nouvelles formes de type hydrate pour l'alendronate, sel de sodium, avec une teneur en eau comprise entre environ 1 % et environ 12 %, ainsi que des procédés de fabrication correspondants. L'invention concerne par ailleurs de nouvelles formes cristallines pour l'alendronate, sel de sodium, B, D, E, F, G et H, ainsi que des procédés de fabrication correspondants. Les nouvelles formes considérées se prêtent à une utilisation dans les compositions pharmaceutiques qui permettent de lutter contre la résorption osseuse propre aux maladies osseuses.
