The present invention provides methods for distinguishing between different isoamylase genes of individual genomes of a polyploid plant. These methods enable a polyploid plant to be produced and/or identified which has at least one impaired isoamylase gene. In particular, the methods of the invention enable various plants of a polyploid species to be produced and/or identified which, between the plants, lack a functional isoamylase gene for each genome of the plant. Such plants can be cross-bredto produce a plant which lacks any functional isoamylase protein. Furthermore, the invention providesnumerous isoamylase gene, protein and cDNA sequences from various polyploid plant species, including hexaploid wheat.

L'invention concerne des procédés permettant de distinguer différents gènes d'isoamylase de génomes individuels d'une plante polyploïde. Ces procédés permettent qu'une plante polyploïde soit produite et/ou identifiée, laquelle possède au moins un gène d'isoamylase endommagé. Plus spécifiquement, les procédés de cette invention permettent que différentes plantes d'une espèce polyploïde soient produites et/ou identifiées, lesquelles plantes sont dépourvues d'un gène d'isoamylase fonctionnel pour chaque génome de la plante. De telles plantes peuvent être croisées afin de produire une plante dépourvue de toute protéine d'isoamylase fonctionnelle. En outre, l'invention concerne de nombreux gènes d'isoamylase, protéines et séquences d'ADNc provenant de différentes espèces de plantes polyploïdes, notamment du blé hexaploïde.
