A method of machining a substrate to produce a cube corner element optical array (12). The method includes steps of directly machining a plurality of groove sets (14, 16, 20) into a directly machinable substrate to form an array having a plurality of geometric structures including cube corner elements (24, 26, 30), and machining at least two of the groove sets along the same path in the substrate but at different depths of groove to produce a geometric structure side surface having both an optical portion and a non-optical portion.

Procédé d'usinage d'un substrat permettant de produire un réseau optique de trièdres trirectangles (12). Ce procédé consiste à usiner directement une pluralité d'ensembles de rainures (14, 16, 20) dans un substrat directement usinable pour former un réseau comportant une pluralité de structures géométriques comprenant des trièdres trirectangles, puis à usiner au moins deux ensembles de rainures le long de la même trajectoire dans le substrat mais à des profondeurs de rainures différentes pour produire une surface latérale à structure géométrique qui comporte une partie optique et une partie non-optique.
