The invention concerns a method for preparing alpha -phenylalanine ester with substantially enantiomeric purity of formulae (I) and (II) wherein Alk represents a linear or branched C1-C6 alkyl radical, characterised in that it consists in contacting a mixture of alpha -phenylalanine ester enantiomers with a lipase, a protease or an esterase.

Procédé de préparation d'esters de l'.alpha.-phénylalanine substantiellement énantiomériquement purs de formules (I) et (II) dans lesquelles Alk représente un radical alkyle linéaire ou ramifié comportant de 1 à 6 atomes de carbone, caractérisé en ce que l'on met en présence un mélange d'énantiomères d'esters de l'.alpha.-phénylalanine avec une lipase, une protéase, ou une estérase.
