The present invention also relates to polyesters, polyestercarbonates, polycarbonates, polyethers, and poly(hydroxy ether) polymers, incorporating the dihydroxy arylhydrazone as recurring divalent moeities in the backbone of the polymer. The polymeric compositions of the present invention have high glass transition temperatures and exhibit stable nonlinear optical activity at high temperatures over a period of time.
