A peptide (Y-2 fraction) obtained by treating fish meat (sardine, etc.) with an alkaline protease, adsorbing the thus obtained peptides by a peptide- adsorbable resin (ODS resin, etc.) and then eluting it with a 10% aqueous solution of ethanol. Because of having an excellent blood pressure-lowering effect, this novel peptide is usable as a nutritional supplement and a specified health food. Moreover, it can be advantageously employed as a hypotensive drug.

L'invention concerne un peptide (fraction Y-2) que l'on obtient par traitement de chair de poisson (sardine, etc.) avec une protéase alcaline, par adsorption des peptides ainsi obtenus au moyen d'une résine pouvant adsorber les peptides (résine ODS, etc.), puis par élution desdits peptides à l'aide d'une solution aqueuse d'éthanol à 10 %. Ce nouveau peptide, du fait de son excellent effet hypotenseur, peut être utilisé comme additif nutritionnel ou comme aliment diététique spécifié. En outre, il peut être avantageusement utilisé comme médicament hypotenseur.
