The invention provides a peptide suitable for the prophylaxis, treatment diagnosis or monitoring of arthritis, said peptide comprising a contiguous sequence of 9 amino acid residues (nonapeptide), said nonapeptide complying with the amino acid sequence: X1-X2-X3-X4-X5-X6-X7-X8-X9, wherein X2, X6 and X7 are any amino acid, X1 is any amino acid except K,H,R,E,D; X3 is S or T; X4 is one of F,L,I,V,A,G,C,P; X5 is one of A,G,C,P,S,N,T,V; X8 is one of V,L,I,M; X9 is E or D; and being a part of a mammalian cartilage, joint or arthritis- related protein such as collagen or a cartilage protein, said peptide having a length of 9-20 amino acids and being capable of being recognised by freshly isolated T cells from rats in which Adjuvant Arthritis is induced and/or being capable of being recognised in vitro by T cell clone A2b.
Cette invention se rapporte à un peptide servant dans la prophylaxie, le traitement, le diagnostic ou la surveillance de l'arthrite, ce peptide comprenant une séquence contiguë de 9 résidus d'acide aminé (nonapeptide). Ce nonapeptide est conforme à la séquence des acides aminés: X1-X2-X3-X4-X5-X6-X7-X8-X9, où X2, X6 et X7 représentent n'importe quel acide aminé, X1 représente n'importe quel acide aminé, à l'exception de K,H,R,E,D; X3 représente S ou T; X4 est choisi parmi F,L,I,V,A,G,C,P; X5 est choisi parmi A,G,C,P,S,N,T,V; X8 est choisi parmi V,L,I,M; et X9 représente E ou D; ce nonapeptide constituant en outre une partie d'une protéine apparentée à l'arthrite ou de cartilage ou d'articulation de mammifère, telle que le collagène ou une protéine de cartilage. Ce peptide a une longueur de 9 à 20 acides aminés et il peut être reconnu par des lymphocytes T fraîchement isolés de rats dans lesquels est induite une polyarthrite à adjuvant et/ou qui peuvent être reconnus in vitro par un clone A2b de lymphocytes T.
