La présente invention concerne un composé de dihydrate d'hydrochlorure 5-[4-[2-(N-methyl-N-(2-pyridyl)amino)ethoxy]benzyl]thiazolidine-2,4-dione, qui se caractérise en ce qu'il: (i) produit un spectre infrarouge présentant des pics à 3392, 2739, 1751, 1325 et 713 cm?-1¿; et/ou (ii) produit un diagramme de diffraction des rayons X d'une poudre qui contient des pics à 9,1 ; 12,0 ; 15,7 ; 16,3 et 19,8 ·2.theta.. On décrit également un procédé de préparation de ce composé, une composition pharmaceutique contenant ledit composé et l'utilisation de ce dernier en médecine.
