Disclosed is a polyamine of the formula I: Image , (wherein n is 1, 2 or 3; R is a linear or branched alkylene, cycloalkylene, (cyclo)alkylene or (phenylene)alkylene radical (1) which has 2 to 22 carbon atoms, (2) which may contain one to four C1-3 alkyl groups, (3) which may have one to three NH groups in place of CH2 groups and (4) which may have one oxygen atom in place of a CH2 group; and R1 is an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or alkylaryl radical having 4 to 24 carbon atoms when n is 1, or a linear or branched saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon, saturated (cyclo)aliphatic hydrocarbon or saturated aliphatic-aromatic hydrocarbon radical having 4 to 24 carbon atoms when n is 2 or 3, each of which may have one to four CH3 groups and wherein one or more CH2 groups may be replaced with oxygen). The polyamine is useful as a cross-linking (e. g. curing) agent of epoxy resins and is environmentally safe due to its low vapor pressure.
