The present invention provides methods and reagents for inducing active immunity in animals. In particular, the present invention provides recombinant herpesviruses having foreign DNA that are capable of inducing immunity to the herpesvirus and/or the source of the foreigh DNA. The present invention also provides mutant herpesviruses having portions of their genome deleted. Preferably, foreign DNA is introduced, or portions of the genome are deleted, in the UL54.5 open reading frame of avian herperviruses or the UL43 open reading frame of Marek's disease virus.
La présente invention concerne des techniques et des réactifs induisant une immunité active chez les animaux. L'invention concerne notamment des herpèsvirus recombinants possédant un ADN étranger pouvant induire une immunité contre l'herpèsvirus et/ou la source de l'ADN étranger. L'invention concerne également des herpèsvirus mutants dont certaines parties du génome sont délétées. On introduit l'ADN étranger, ou on délète certaines parties du génome de préférence dans le cadre de lecture ouvert UL54.5 des herpèsvirus aviaires ou dans le cadre de lecture ouvert du virus de la maladie de Marek.
