This invention mainly consists of a water tank with a conventional cylindrical shape where water is heated in the traditional way using a Vertical Heating Pipe (VHP) (usually around 100 mm diameter) where combustion gases flow upwards from the burner located at the bottom of the tank. The main innovation is the addition of a surrounding pipe and skirt (SPS) around the hot areas of the system, i.e., the VHP and the bottom part of the water tank. The special feature of this SPS is that it allows water to be heated in a vertical confined space so that it promotes a very ordered transfer of heat that allows water to be circulated in the tank from bottom to top without unnecessary mixing. This will allow that most of the heat provided by the burner will be used to heat just the water around the VHP. This brings several advantages: virtually increase water tank capacity, eficiency and a capability of providing endless small flow supply of hot water. Additional features including valves and an hermetic water circuit can further improve these benefits. Another innovative process is that the combustion air used for the burner, located at the bottom at the tank, comes from the top of the tank, through a separate tube and a small fan. This provides a safety measure for virtually eliminating the risk of vapour lock explosion issues. The heat transfer from hot gases to the VHP can also be increased due to the use of internal/ external fins. The finned VHP further increases the water temperature to the upper part of the tank so that it can provide virtually endless hot water as long as the burner operates.
