The present invention provides compositions and methods for regulating expression of nucleotide sequences in a plant. Compositions are novel nucleotide sequences for root-preferred promoter elements and plant promoters comprising the elements. Methods for expressing a nucleotide sequence in a plant using the promoter sequences disclosed herein are provided. The methods comprise transforming a plant cell with a nucleotide sequence operably linked to the promoters of the present invention and regenerating a stably transformed plant from the transformed plant cell.

La présente invention concerne des compositions et des procédés de régulation de l'expression des séquences nucléotidiques dans une plante. Ces compositions sont de nouvelles séquences nucléotidiques conçues pour les éléments promoteurs destinés préférentiellement aux racines et aux promoteurs de plantes contenant ces éléments. En outre, cette invention concerne des procédés d'expression d'une séquence nucléotidique dans une plante au moyen des séquences de promoteurs précitées. Ces procédés consistent à transformer une cellule végétale à l'aide d'une séquence nucléotidique liée de manière fonctionnelle aux promoteurs de cette invention, et à régénérer une plante transformée de manière stable provenant de la cellule végétale transformée.
