1. Novel strains of the insecticidal microorganism Bacillus thuringiensis are described. These contain novel genes, and in particular a gene coding for a novel insecticidal endotoxin, 81 kiloDaltons in length, toxic to both Lepidoptera and Coleoptera. The novel strains and the genes they contain may be used to combat insect attack against plants.
