A photocatalyst, represented by formula (II): Pt(a)/Zn[M(b)]S, wherein character "a" represents a percentage by weight of Pt in the photocatalyst, ranging from 0.1 to 3.5; character "M" is an element selected from the group consisting of Co, Fe, Ni and P; character "b" represents a mole % of M/Zn, ranging from 0.05 to 30. It can be active in the range of the visible light, live a semi-permanent life and produce hydrogen at a high yield without using any oxygen-containing organic compound as a hydrogen-producing promotor.
Cette invention concerne un photocatalyseur correspondant à la formule (II): Pt(a)/Zn[M(b)]S où "a" représente le pourcentage en poids de Pt dans le photocatalyseur, lequel varie de 0,1 à 3,5. M représente un élément choisi dans le groupe comprenant Co, Fe, Ni et P, tandis que b représente le pourcentage en moles de M/Zn qui varie de 0,05 à 30. Ce photocatalyseur peut être actif dans le spectre de la lumière visible, et avoir une vie semi-permanente. Il permet de produire de grandes quantités d'hydrogène sans avoir recours à un composé organique contenant de l'oxygène, tels qu'un promoteur de production d'hydrogène.
