ABSTRACT In a nozzle entry for a pressure vessel closure, the nozzle is of a material different than that of the clo- sure. In addition the closure is provided with an internal cladding. In order to avoid heat stresses on the coupling between the nozzle and closure, a compensating ring is provided between a shoulder on the nozzle and a shoulder on the closure. The axial length of the compensating ring and its material are selected so that the change in elonga- tion resulting from heat expansion of the nozzle and closure materials is compensated over a distance which takes in the shoulders and the coupling. The material and axial length can be selected in such a way that a predictable stress is created in the coupling upon heating.
