2051371 9112121 PCTABS00006 A nozzle shut-off valve (21) for the plastification system of an injection molding machine (10). The valve (21) includes a cylindrical inner body member (52) that has axially spaced inlet (54) and outlet (58) passageways. Inclined passageways (64, 66, 68, 70) extend from the inlet (54) and outlet (58) passageways to the outer surface of the inner body member (52) to terminate in spaced openings (72, 74, 76, 78) on the periphery of the inner body member (52). A tubular outer member (84) is provided with at least one recess (86, 88) or depression on its inner surface, the recess (86, 88) having a length sufficient to provide communication between a pair of the spaced peripheral openings (72, 78) in the inner body member (52) when the recess (86) is positioned in overlying relationship with the respective openings (72, 78). Rotation or translation of the tubular outer member (84) relative to the inner body member (52) shifts the recess (86) out of registration with the respective peripheral openings (72, 78) to thereby prevent flow of material through the valve (21).
