The use of radiolabelled atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) for in vivo imaging of various organs of a human or animal is disclosed. Such imaging is useful in the diagnosis and monitoring of certain diseases. Imaging is carried out by administering the radiolabelled ANF and then following the course of the radioactivity in target organs of the body by means of a suitable detection system. The amount and rate of uptake, displacement and wash-out of the radio- labelled compound in the target organ are analyzed to evaluate organ size, function and pathology.
L'invention décrit l'utilisation du facteur natriurétique atrial (ANF) radiomarqué pour la représentation in vivo par images de divers organes d'un sujet humain ou animal. Une telle imagerie est utile dans le diagnostic et l'examen de certaines maladies. On procède à cette représentation par images ou imagerie en administrant le facteur ANF radiomarqué, puis en suivant le cours du processus radioactif dans les organes cibles du corps du sujet, au moyen d'un système de détection approprié. La quantité et le débit d'assimilation, de déplacement et d'élimination du composé radiomarqué dans l'organe cible sont analysés, pour permettre une évaluation de la taille, de la fonction et de la pathologie de l'organe.
