The present invention relates to methods for promoting regeneration response of peripheral and central nervous systems in mammals in need of such biological effects. The methods comprise altering the activity or steady state level o f specific polypeptides that control regeneration of injured or degenerated neuronal cells. Preferably the activity or steady state level of specific polypeptides is altered by introducing nucleic acids to increase or decrease expressing of the polypeptides. These are useful in or suffering from neurodegenerative disorders.

L'invention concerne des procédés permettant d'activer la réponse de régénération des systèmes nerveux central et périphérique chez des mammifères nécessitant un tel traitement. Les procédés comprennent l'étape consistant à modifier l'activité ou le taux à l'état d'équilibre de polypeptides spécifiques qui régulent la régénération de cellules neuronales lésées ou dégénérées. De préférence, on modifie l'activité ou le taux à l'état d'équilibre des polypeptides spécifiques en introduisant des acides nucléiques afin d'accroître ou de diminuer l'expression des polypeptides. Les procédés sont utiles dans le traitement des troubles neurodégénératifs.
