A structure comprising bodies having a functional surface property bonded to a substrate via a siloxane polymer adhesive. The structure may comprise a novel composition comprising a siloxane polymer having carbon bodies bonded thereto by direct carbon to silicon bonds. This composition may be used to bond carbon parti- cles through a medium comprising the siloxane polymer to a vitreous, metal, plastic or other nu- cleophilic substrate. Alternatively, the bodies may comprise alumina, silicon zeolite, organic poly- mers or other nucleophilic compositions, which are bonded directly to silicon atoms of the siloxane polymer. To bond carbon or other nucleophilic bodies to the substrate, the substrate is contacted with a mixture of the bodies and a hydrosiloxane polymer. The mixture is heated to cause the poly- mer to be bonded to the nucleophilic bodies, typ- ically by C-Si, C-O-Si, Si-O-Si or Si-O-Al bonds, and to the substrate by reaction with the surface silanol or other nucleophilic groups. Chromato- graphic methods using a column comprising the novel composition are also disclosed.
L'invention concerne une structure comprenant des corps ayant une propriété de surface fonctionnelle qui sont liés à un substrat par l'intermédiaire d'un adhésif polymère de siloxane. La structure peut avoir une nouvelle composition comprenant un polymère de siloxane auquel sont liés des corps de carbone par des liaisons directes carbone-silicium. Cette composition peut être utilisée pour lier des particules de carbone par l'intermédiaire d'un milieu comprenant le polymère de siloxane sur un substrat vitreux, métallique, plastique ou nucléophile. Dans une variante, les corps peuvent comprendre de l'alumine, du silicium, une zéolite, des polymères organiques ou d'autres compositions nucléophiles qui peuvent se lier directement aux atomes de silicium du polymère de siloxane. Pour lier les corps de carbone ou autres corps nucléophiles au substrat, ce dernier est mis en contact avec un mélange des corps et d'un polymère d'hydrosiloxane. Le mélange est chauffé pour provoquer la liaison du polymère aux corps nucléophiles, en général par des liaisons C-Si, C-O-Si, Si-O-Si ou Si-O-Al, et au substrat par réaction avec le silanol en surface ou d'autres groupes nucléophiles. Des procédés chromatographiques utilisant une colonne comprenant la nouvelle composition sont également décrits.
