The invention relates to a digitally-controlled engraving machine which can be used to engrave different objects such as gems, plates of metal or another material, such as to produce the effect obtained by means of artisan engraving with a chisel, in which the tradesperson performs a downward/upward movement with the chisel with each insertion made in the surface of the body to be engraved, such that the engraved line has a curvilinear trajectory. In addition to the three axes (X, Y, Z) or degrees of freedom for the movement of the tool holder, the inventive engraving machine also creates two new complementary axes which are denoted as PT (depth of line) and SV (vector tracing), thereby producing the same type of engraving as that obtained by a tradesperson with a chisel. The PT axis controls the penetration movement of the tool for the curvilinear line over the course of the vector that defines the direction and sense of the line. The SV (vector tracing) axis orients the cutting edge of the tool with the correct engraving cutting angle.

L'invention concerne la gravure de différents objets tels que des bijoux, des plaques de métal ou d'un autre matériau, permettant d'obtenir l'effet produit par la gravure artisanale au burin, dans laquelle l'artisan effectue un mouvement descendant-ascendant avec le burin dans chaque insertion réalisée sur la surface du corps à graver, la partie gravée présentant une trajectoire curviligne. La machine à graver de l'invention comprend, en plus des trois axes (X, Y, Z) ou degrés de liberté de mouvement du porte-outils, deux nouveaux axes complémentaires désignés comme PT (profondeur de tracé) et SV (suivi vecteur), permettant d'obtenir le même type de gravure que celle obtenue de manière artisanale avec le burin. L'axe PT permet de commander le mouvement de pénétration de l'outil pour le tracé curviligne au cours du parcours du vecteur marquant la direction et le sens du tracé. L'axe SV (suivi vecteur) permet d'orienter la coupe de l'outil selon l'angle d'attaque correct pour effectuer la gravure.
