- 16 - NUTATING DRIVE ABSTRACT A nutating drive includes an outer rotatable structure rotatable about an axis and having a generally cylindrical cavity therein, an axis of the cavity being inclined to the axis of rotation of the rotatable structure. A generally cylindrical nutatable member is mounted within the cavity and a generally conical surface of a complementary member is in driving contact with a generally cylindrical surface of the nutatable member. The complementary member has an output shaft generally coaxial with the axis of the rotatable structure. The nutatable member is constrained against rotation while nutating upon rotation of the rotatable structure by means of a number of balls which are partly located in slots in stationary structure and in the nutatable member.
