ABSTRACT A nutcracker for cracking hard-shelled edible nuts. In this invention of a manual nutcracker, a cylindrical nut holder supports the edible nut while force is applied against it by means of a pivotal handle which levers, in turn, a cam, a push rod and a cracker jaw. Said cracker jaw is moved a little at a time, with each full movement of the handle, so as not to crush the nut. A return spring returns the cam and pivotal handle but not the cracker jaw and push rod which are firmly attached. A trigger and spring lock the push rod from backward movement. Pressing the trigger returns the push rod and with it the cracker jaw to release the cracked nut.
